The Extraordinary History of Flamborough and Beverly
There is a tremendous amount of local history in our area dating back thousands of years. Few people realize it, but the Flamborough-Beverly region is filled with ancient first nations' trails (many of which we now use as roads) and artifacts. European settlement in our area can be dated as far back as the late 18th century (1780s), while European contact (French Explorers) goes back to the 1600s. There is also evidence of First Nations settlements dating back to over 5000 BCE! |

It is important that we know about our hometowns and where they came from. Whether it is Rockton, Greensville, Troy, Carlisle or Waterdown, there are many interesting stories to tell. A core part of thee Grade 12 Canadian History, Identity and Culture (CHI4U1) course at WDHS relates to local history and the connections it has to the larger story of Canada.
