Waterdown South Indigenous Sites

Before being developed into a new survey, the Waterdown South area was surveyed by the University of Ottawa after Indigenous artifacts were discovered there. 104 sites were ultimately discovered, some of which were properly excavated, before the entire area was plowed over. The foundations of a cabin were also discovered (and ultimately back-filled) - important since the first European owner of the land was Waterdown's founder Alexander Brown.

Using Google Maps, the original University of Ottawa excavations can be seen with the new streets laid out over the original field. The "Brown Cabin" is also depicted. These shots were captured in 2014.
