The Carl E. Draksler Cup
Department of Canadian and World Studies, Waterdown District High School
Carl Draksler enthusiastically taught History for 29 years (1989-2018) at Waterdown District High School and for 21 years served as Head of the History Department.
Created in 2018, the "Draksler Cup" is awarded to a graduating student who has taken at least two senior History courses taught within the walls of W.D.H.S. Recipients are respectful and enthusiastic participants in class discussions, as well as exhibiting a keen interest in History as a subject. In its inaugural year three cups were commissioned: One was presented to Mr. Draksler at his retirement celebration on June 15th; one was given to the first recipient during that year's Commencement Ceremony; one was kept by Waterdown District High School for permanent display. The initial three cups were paid for by the WDHS Student Parliament in honour of Mr. Draksler's years volunteering as an advisor to Student government bodies. |
